Branding and illustrations for PBS 'Fascinating Fails' Youtube Series with Brilliant Productions

The purpose of the Fascinating Fails YouTube series was to stand out against other educational science content and reach more women and LGBTQ+ communities of colour. Our ambition was to take a more vibrant, playful and messy approach to presenting educational science content.

We developed their visual identity and a number of illustrations per episode to emphasise the message "bring yourself to work" and remind people that underneath the lab jackets, "scientists are just people". Our core aim being to make the industry more inviting, welcoming and accepting.

Testimonial

Maren Hunsberger

Executive Producer, Director, Host

We found Lizzie through her mission-driven portfolio, which really spoke to what we wanted to bring to the show—an overall artistic theme and assets that were rooted in our mission of making science content more appealing to our target audience of women, queer folks, and viewers of colour.

Lizzie took such care in learning about our team's she incorporated every tidbit we gave her, no matter how small or seemingly random, into formulating her unique and tailored vision board and artistic proposal at the start of our work together.

Her work at the start of the show's branding process helped us so much in defining the show's energy and determining our visual creative direction.

The assets she has created for our episodes so far have been crucial in communicating not only the content of each episode, but in creating a visual language for the show that is cohesive across the series and makes every episode come alive.

It has truly been a pleasure and an honour to have Lizzie be a part of our team—she is adept at creating assets that our animator can easily work with to create dynamic animations, she is a clear and timely communicator, and her process is highly structured and organised while still slotting in perfectly with our existing workflows for the project as a whole.

Lizzie's work speaks for itself visually, as she provides stunning and fulfilling visuals above and beyond the scope she is given, but I would also want anyone looking into working with Lizzie to know that she is the most organised, experienced, and communicative creative freelancer I have ever had the pleasure of bringing onto a multimedia project.

We can't recommend working with Lizzie enough!

Stephanie Faucher

Series Producer, project Manager

“Working with Lizzie has been so much fun, but ultimately a truly professional experience. Not only does she understand the creative vision of our project, she enhances it.

As the Series Producer aka Project Manager of the Production, it's been great to see how she interacts with our Director to help shape the editorial vision of our Series.

Her branding, colour palette, and illustrations are not just a staple of our production, but have become part of the identity of the show.

If you want to work with someone who is pleasant, professional, and becomes as enthusiastic as you are about your project, Lizzie is the person for you!

It's been an immense pleasure to work with Lizzie and we hope to be able to work with her again in the future!”
